Nearby, for your leisure, there is a swimming-pool and tennis
paths for walking, biking or horse-riding. In Montbron,
there is the small Sabot Museum and the Castle. If you are fond of
fishing, you can practise your hobby on the river Tardoire at the foot
of the village. If you like water-mills, you can visit the Moulin de Trotte Renard in Bunzac on the Bandiat river, the mills of Menat and
Chabrot on the Tardoire, the Moulin de la Forge in Rancogne or the
Moulin de la Chaume in Saint Germain de Montbron. Also the Moulin
de la Pierre in Vilhonneur which it is unique in France: the water power
enables it to saw a limestone block that weighs several tons.
Environmentalist and bio lovers must go to Souffrignac to visit
the Bandiat Gardens, on the Périgord border: a museum garden with European vegetable gardens,
a rural museum, events
and bio products for sale, everything is organized for your pleasure.
If you are attracted by the charm of traditional villages then you can
take a stroll in the nearby Vilhonneur market town, built on the
Tardoire river; the village houses
are grouped around the tiny Romanesque church. Or for natural curiosities, walk into the Queroy Caves ("Grottes du Quéroy").
Don’t forget to take a jumper or coat with you the temperature can go
down to 9°c.
If nautical activities are your favourite sports you can choose between
the Tardoire and Bandiat rivers, the Haute Charente lakes and the
nautical centre in Lavaud to swim, fish, go canoeing or rowing.
If you have a passion for horse-riding, you must visit the Ecurie de
Bois Long in Pranzac. Or for golfers, the Golf de la Prèze is located in
Markets, Farmers markets, fairs, bric a bracs
We are on the edge of the Perigord area. The markets here are
magnificent: in the Springtime, all the little villages around organise
their bric a bracs, every Summer they hold village fairs with giant
omelettes, food and wine tasting etc…

St Georges de Didonne -
is a seaside resort on the French Atlantic coast. This town of
Charente-Maritime, situated near Royan at the mouth of the estuary of
the Gironde. Saint-Georges-de-Didonne more than 5000 inhabitants, but
this figure is multiplied by ten during the summer. Great for kids,
couples and everyone.
The Braconne Forest : on the paths of this big
forest, you can discover a large range of wild animals and flora.
Villebois-Lavalette : A XVIIth century castle with ramparts dating back
to the XIIIth century. At the heart of the medieval city, stands a
beautiful XVIIth century roofed market-place.
